Compromise! The definition of compromise is “Making adjustments in your standards, making concessions for the sake of avoiding conflict, to step away from a firm conviction.” A Bible dictionary defines compromise as “Diverting from the Holiness of God.” Our nation and culture are text book cases of compromise. As a society, we somehow decided that God’s “absolutes” were not for “sophisticated” societies like ours. We now live by “situation ethics” and what is “expedient”. In Judges it says, “In those days everybody did what was right in their own eyes.” This morning we can learn a great deal from Joseph.
